Current thoughts

Even though I still can’t decide at the moment, I have some thoughts on what i’m going to do.

I’m CS college student now, due to transferring from another major. And as an asian, my parents always pressure me to do something that can make me more worthy in the market. So, I’m thinking to make my own personal website, to practise my coding and writing off my thoughts. I’m thinking to translate LN again too, but not necessarily the current big ones. Maybe trying to pick off some small unnoticed gem out there. The translation won’t be my main concern probably, but will still try to make some releases in my spare time.

Just my thoughts.

I have an idea before, a web app that specializes in writing novels with tools that will greatly help translators, it doesn’t mean you have to incorporate a translation tools but something that will help them to make things easier. Having someone point out some mistake on a particular line with ease is great too.

I want to build this one before, but I’m too busy with RL now. AngularJS with SignalR/WebSockets + MessagePack might be the best tools to achieve this.

I have some thoughts about that too. Using algorithm for translation. It might or might not worked out.

Translator is somewhat complicated. Specially on complicated statements.

I’m just suggesting a web app where you can post novels and letting other people to create a translation of it. It has function of analyzing the number of sentences and keeping track on your progress in translating a certain chapter. Then an editor tool that will help the editor have a copy of the translated work with their edits. Then another function that will let readers to suggest changes, then the editor/translator can just approve them to apply.

Like a love child of Google Docs, Git, and WordPress. Well, it is up to your imagination how these three will breed, like 3 humenz having an orgy. LOL!

          I see.

It’s like what translation team do.

Good suggestion, and nice analogy. :3

I’m confused about the “post novels” parts, it would mean that it’s intended for authors too. Kinda like syosetu integrated in it.

Yeah, you can post your original works there, then when several people want to make a translation of your original work in other language, they can immediately create their own team and work together without leaving the web site.

Oh, it would be awesome if it became a community with special flair on each roles, like translator, editor, proofreader, etc. People with different flairs might find themselves partnering up with another people as well.

Example, A LN need an 2 editor, proofreader, and 2 translator. If a person with an translator flair interested in it, he can “bookmark” it and it will say it only need 2 editor, a proofreader, and 1 translator left.

The major dev tools/technologies that I’m looking at before to create this are SignalR and AngularJS.

Through SignalR, it is possible to create some kind of interface that will enable users to collaborate like in Google Docs – you can see real-time what are the other people are doing and be notified if there are suggestions.
